Winnetka Woman's Club Housewalk Committee members: Marion Titterton, Debbie Sullivan, Vicky Young and Jeannie Balsam join Randy and Sam, owners of Prufrock Floral and Botanical Design, outside their store in Hubbard Woods - Winnetka. Prufrock has supported the housewalk for over eight (8) years with their exceptional floral design showcased in many of the homes.
The Winnetka Women's Club sponsors the Housewalk each year to showcase the variety of North Shore lifestyles. By hosting other events throughout the year, the Women’s Club supports local projects and scholarship programs. The Housewalk has created a name for itself in the recent years, even being voted the Best Housewalk on the North Shore. The Walk has become so important as to be the Women’s Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
The day will include showings of the five homes selected for their unique décor and architecture, from a gated chateau, to traditional family homes, to New England Colonials, with one even having been featured in Better Homes and Gardens. Guides will be on hand at to point out interesting features and to give background on each home. Each of the five homes boasts a different viewpoint on what it means to live on Chicago’s North Shore, one of the city’s most beautiful suburban areas. Combining the proximity to big city lifestyle, with a pleasant family environment, Winnetka offers its residents the best of both worlds.

Winnetka Woman's Club Housewalk Committee members: Marion Titterton, Debbie Sullivan, Vicky Young and Jeannie Balsam are pleased to partner again with Prufrock Floral and Botanical Design for the 2011 Housewalk. With two homes on Ridge Road, and the remaining three on Indian Hill Road, there is ample time to drive to each home. The first house on the schedule displays the beauty that is a family house on the North Shore. With refurbishments and updates made recently by the owner, this home illustrates how to remain stylish while also raising a family.
Bringing classic New England style to Chicago, the second home on the list retains some of its 1920s accents, while also staying elegantly updated. For lovers of traditional architecture, this may well be a favorite stop on the tour. An unbelievable outdoor kitchen completes this family home, built in traditional Tudor style.
The beauty of the North Shore surely continues in the third home, a European-influenced home, built very recently. The feeling of an Italian villa flows through this home, and with open spaces that let light fill the rooms this house takes its cues from the most luxurious of furnishings and décor. The owners enjoy using the space to entertain and showcase excellent style and sophistication.
A sprawling, gated house sits picturesquely on the lakefront, exemplifying a brilliant French chateau aesthetic. Modern meets traditional European in this home, with classic limestone facades juxtaposed against the technology of the 21st century. Positioned perfectly on the lake, to ensure only the most amazing of views, this fourth home on the Housewalk will inspire and awe.
Capping off the Walk is a newer addition to the North Shore. The family house makes all who enter feel welcome, with beautifully cozy décor and an expansive foyer. This custom-built Tudor brings all of the warmth of a family home, while still providing the stylish atmosphere of a beautiful new home.
