Dealavue is “Not Your Mother’s Deal Site”
Operating on the mantra of “we’re not your mother’s deal site,” it is hard to imagine that Dealavue would be anything like the countless other daily deal sites.
Started on January 1, 2011, the company has quickly grown to be one of the fastest growing companies in their space. Unlike other similar companies, Dealavue offers over 500 daily deals to over 350,000 customers with discounts ranging from 50 to 90 percent per transaction.
With everything from restaurants to beauty services, Dealavue brings deals that are relevant to its consumer base.
- “[Delavue] came out of being a consumer and looking at other deal sites and feeling there was a void in the industry,” said CEO Anthony Berg.
Most daily deal sites require that customers purchase the deal within 24 hours of its posting, unless it sells out. Consumers then must wait another day for the deal to be activated, and once they can use it, they can only do it within a pre-set time period.
Dealavue, however, makes their deals available for 30 days and deals are active immediately, allowing their customers to use the product as soon as they purchase it.
“It enables you to buy the deal that you want, when you want and use it how you want, where you want,” said Berg.
Online, consumers are able to enter their desired location and view a map with the closest deals in the area. This allows the customer to only see and purchase those deals that are both applicable and relevant to their interests and location.
- “The consumer can see what’s around them at any time no matter where they’re located,” said Berg. “No matter where you are, you can press our app and see the deals around you.”
To make purchasing deals even more efficient, Dealavue has created an exclusive location-based mobile application for the Android, iPhone and Blackberry.
Within the app, consumers have the opportunity to purchase the deal as soon as it goes live. Once purchased, the consumer is also able to access the coupon on their phone and bring it directly to the business to redeem it. All without having to print the coupon or wait to receive it.
As another form of instant communication, the app also allows merchants to send messages to nearby consumers informing them of the latest or upcoming deals.
“We can send out personal notifications to any smart phone or text messages to any cell phone that can offer a deal,” said Berg.
Dealavue messages its local consumers with immediate deals whenever a business has a slow afternoon or sudden openings, creating unexpected deals.
The connection with local businesses is something the Berg and the Delavue team greatly appreciates and prides themselves on. Most of the available deals are for small to mid-sized companies, exposing consumers to previously sometimes unknown companies and bringing business to local shops.
Building a strong relationship with the Chicago businesses allows Dealavue to deliver only the best deals to its clients.
- “Every one of our merchants is seen live by one of our house specialists. We have somebody go out, meet with the merchant, find out what it is they want to accomplish, find out what it is they want to drive more traffic in,” said Berg. “We cater every single deal to what the merchant needs and the merchant wants.”
- Through the personal interaction, publicizing deals and advertising companies becomes natural. Because of the local focus of the company, Berg has found that many of the customers who purchase deals tend to return to the place of business for more goods or services.
- “Our repeat business is much higher than anybody else, which better for the merchant and the consumer,” said Berg.
With such a strong presence in Chicago, Berg is looking to expand move his unique business model into other metropolitan areas in the hear future.
- “We are expanding to Dallas and Boston next month,” said Berg. “ We will be in 14 major markets by the end of the year.”
