In honor of Captain Morgan’s 376th(ish) birthday, Chicago played host to an evening of celebration and dance on Friday, May 13. Co-hosted by Maxim and supermodel Marisa Miller, the party was also an occasion to reveal a new ad campaign for the famous spiced rum and to introduce Miller as the Captain’s new First Mate.
As the clock struck midnight, party-goers watched as Miller premiered the commercial for Captain Morgan’s new “To Life, Love, Loot” campaign, which was filmed by Academy Award-winning director Tom Hooper. Guests followed the Captain’s orders, raised their glasses and toasted to life, love and loot.
DJ ROCKTAKON kept the dace floor rocking all night with a master mix of the hottest club hits. A mixed crowd of dressed to impress partygoers were on hand for the Captain’s big day.
Hosted at Public House, the venue’s new liquor taps and renowned table tap draft technology let the masses celebrate in style. To facilitate social communication, Public House allowed its guests to message other tables and share their experiences in real-time on Facebook and Twitter using holographic keyboards on tables.
The bar even served the Captain’s favorite drink – Captain and Cola. The First Mate’s special concoction included Captain Morgan, Diet Coke and lime.
Along with the birthday celebration, Miller was also introduced as the Captain’s First Mate. Her role includes working with the First Mate Fund, a non-profit group that awards grants to charitable organizations that focus on responsible drinking awareness and education.
“My friends and I would always have a plan beforehand and know who was driving,” said Miller, sharing her tips on drinking responsibly. “You can have so much more fun that way and not have to worry about getting home safe.”
Raising awareness for responsible drinking is an important role of the fund. With its One Million Poses promotion, it encourages consumers to visit the brand’s Facebook page and upload photos of themselves doing their own version of the Captain Morgan pose. For each picture uploaded, Captain Morgan donates $1 to the First Mate Fund.
“One thing that was really important to me was to give back, so we started the First Mate Fund in my honor,” said Miller. “We’ve raised over half a million dollars, and we have gone to different cities; we went to the Super Bowl and donated money to the Gridiron Greats, and we went to Louisiana and donated to SPCA.”
