MorSo

340 W. Armitage - 773.880.9280

Matt Maroni’s has parked his Gaztro Wagon and decided to showcase his culinary skills in Lincoln Park with his innovative new restaurant: MorSo, which leaves much to talk about with its creative concept and food.

MorSo throws out the standard restaurant menu format and breaks things down into small-plate categories: raw, shellfish, offal, veg, fish and game.

The eatery is divided into two parts, a main dining room with an upscale menu and an upstairs lounge with drinks and more casual food. In the main dinning room Maroni serves up unique dishes like crispy oysters and crab cake with bacon chard, leak and scallop sauce; antelope “tonnato” with caperberrry, focaccia, dandelion and lemon; crispy veal sweetbreads with avocado, smoked tomato and radish; and whitefish with yogurt, peach, watercress and pecans.

To add to the restaurants creativity, guest can continue their dinning experience by going upstairs to the eateries lounge. Mixologist Mathew Lipsky can be found upstairs whipping up small batches of spirit cocktails with a focus on bourbon and whiskey, and he uses 29 different types of bitters.

The lounge menu features snack foods that consists of dishes like pork belly nuggets, avocado frites and a patty croquette (a burger with capicola, provolone and a fried egg). The lounge also attracts the nightlife crowd because it stays open late. Tuesday through Thursday the lounge is open until midnight, and it is open until 2 am on Friday and Saturday.
