While the heat beat down on the Chicagoland area, some of the city’s most notable individuals flocked to the new Des Plaines Rivers Casino (3000 S. River, Des Plaines, 888.307.0777) VIP party on Sunday, July 17.
Jim Belushi and the Sacred Hearts entertained the crowd while they played Blackjack, Craps, Roulette and Baccarat. The 44,000 square foot casino, equipped with over 1,050 slot machines and 48 table games, welcomed thousands.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony, that included Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and Representative Lou Lang, on Monday, July 18 officially opened the 10th Illinois casino and brought dining, gambling and fun to both locals and visitors.
Along with the multitude of gaming options, Rivers also offered dining for every imaginable palate. From steak and seafood at Hugo’s Frog Bar and Chop House, to top-notch Asian at MianBar, there was sure to be something delicious for everyone. For those staying up late and guarding the slot machines, Rivers’ own Coffee Spot satisfies all caffeine needs. And for the all-American, casual fare of burgers, fries, sandwiches and shakes, FLIPT was the place to go.
“We have considered every detail with our customers in mind,” said Neil Bluhm, Chairman of Midwest Gaming and Entertainment , LLC, Rivers’ owner and developer.
The casino even houses its own cocktail lounge, Lotus, located directly in the center of the action on the floor. In the summer months, Cube will even offer an outdoor seating area on the multi-level patio. Otherwise, Cube also converts into the casino’s performance venue, nightclub or sports bar.
“Our team members are the best I have worked with in my 20 plus years in gaming and our guests will experience a new gold standard of customer service,” said Bill Keena, Rivers Casino General Manager.
And with the casino’s opening, fans of slot machines and card games will have a cool place to convene at this summer and beyond.
