The Spirit of the Games Lives On

The 2002 Winter Olympics have left town, but the spirit of the games lives on in Park City, Utah. Nestled in the Wasatch Mountains 36 miles from the Salt Lake International Airport, Park City offers world-class skiing and more…

Where to Stay
For a romantic ski-in-ski-out getaway at a 110-year-old Victorian mansion, go to the Angel House Inn, just two blocks from historic Main Street and the free city bus. Ask about the spa/yoga package. Contact Park City Lodging Connection for other places to stay.

Carve into Utah's Famed Champagne Powder

Park City offers 8,550 acres of terrain across three giant year-round resorts. Hop the Town Lift for easy access to Park City Mountain Resort, host to the Olympic Snowboard and Giant Slalom events. Check out the massive Eagle Superpipe and PayDay Halfpipe, dude! Jupiter Bowl is the place to be on a powder day. Lunch at the Snow Hut. Ski with Olympic champion Picabo Street. In 2001, readers of SKI magazine rated Dear Valley Resort the No.1 North American Resort. You'll feel like a winner skiing Big Stick, Champion and White Owl where the Olympic slalom, mogul and aerial events were held. The turkey chili is a must at the Empire Canyon Lodge. Home to NBC's Olympic Today Show, The Canyons Resort offers trails spanning eight mountains. Head up to Ninety-Nine 90 and Dreamscape for spectacular views. Lunch on the deck of the Sun Lodge. Call Powder for the People for a lift to seven additional ski areas in close proximity of Park City.

For a change of pace contact the Norwegian Outdoor Exploration Center for a backcountry experience. White Pine Cross Country Ski Area offers 20 km of groomed trails. Try tubing at Gorgoza Park.

Coffee, Food & Drinks

Have coffee with the locals at The Coffee Roasters. At the top of Main Street visit The Morning Ray ($$) for eggs benedict and Uptown Fare ($) for tantalizing tortellini soup. A local's favorite, Alex's Bistro ($$$), offers French continental cuisine. (Don't be surprised if Alex joins you for a glass of wine,) Other ($$$) Main Street favorites include Bagkok Thai, Happy Sumo and Mileti's. Off Main try the Glitretind Restaurant ($$$$) at the famed Stein Eriksen Lodge and El Chubasco Mexican Grill ($).

For après ski check out Deer Valley's Snow Park Lounge, Legends at Park City Mountain Resort and Doc's at The Canyons gondola. Back on Main Street, visit Renee's Bar & Café or The Spur. Park City piano favorites Rich Wyman and Mary Beth Maziarz are a must see if they 're in town.

Shopping, Art & Unique Tours

Historic Main Street offers quaint stores and galleries and the Main Street Museum where you can learn about Park City's silver mine history. Go to The Expanding Heart for unique gifts, Tommy Knockers for hand-crafted silver jewelry and Judy Taylor Artworks for local art at a reasonable price.

A tour of the Utah Olympic Park is a must where you'll see the huge Olympic ski jumps and the fastest bobsled, luge and skeleton track. Nearby Soldier Hollow offers tours of this first class cross-country Olympic venue site.
